About Meli

Expert Staff

Meli is a bilingual, highly experienced provider of childcare with over 18 years experience. With a background of Dance Teaching, The EYFS and maternity nursing. She started her early years educator career in nurseries around Bristol before becoming a nanny and then trained in London as a maternity nurse. She was then recruited to work privately for VIP families around the world as a maternity nanny and did so for many years.

She created Meli Poppins Childcare in 2020 and loves sharing her passion for nurturing children through child led, Montessori, learning through play.

She is Fully OFSTED registered, with an OFSTED OUTSTANDING grade (December 2022).

Meli works along side two other experience early years practitioners per day.

All staff are fully pediatric first aid trained, trained in safeguarding and food hygiene and share her love of the child led learning.

At Meli Poppins childcare we deliver our curriculum through child led play and adventures. We have memberships for and frequently take trips to The Aquarium, SS Great Britain, We The Curious science museum, as well as trips to the local farm, to the harbour to feed the ducks, the local library, Mshed Museum and various other places.

Additionally to the above outings we also attend childminding groups where Meli's little Poppins get to play with up to 15 other childminders mindees who all live locally. This means they are exposed to larger group play to prepare them for school but it also allows them to build relationships with other local children who may be at their school when they start.

We have Music Class at our setting with a wonderful piano teacher and we do Forestry activities either in the woods or in our large garden.

We are a larger childminding setting with up to 12 children per day. As a larger childminding setting we endeavoured to combine the best parts of a small childminding setting with the pros of a nursery. We carefully and thoughtfully plan our curriculum based on the children's development stages and individual little Poppin's needs and interests and deliver this on smaller ratios. We mix our groups for specific group learning and also have the whole group setting activities such as our music classes.

The beautiful Meli Poppins childcare 'setting' really is a home away from home. We provide cooked lunch and dinner using organic produce. We all eat the same meal sat together at the large dining table as a family and chat about what we have enjoyed doing so far that day. Each day the children bring in a piece of fruit for snack. They each cut the fruit with toddler knives and prepare a fruit salad that they then all share.

Additonally to the Montessori learning through play with our wonderful resources, classes and outings we also have a subscription with a seasonal vegetable growing company which allows us to grow some of our own vegetables successfully.
