Meli is the Founder and CEO of Meli Poppins Childcare, bringing over 22 years of experience working with children and families across a wide range of childcare settings and roles.

Her journey began as a dance teacher before progressing into nurseries, nannying and working with families both in the UK and internationally. Along the way, Meli trained as a Maternity Nurse, supporting new parents and caring for new born babies during those precious and often challenging early months of family life. These experiences gave her a unique understanding of child development from birth onwards and helped shape the nurturing philosophy that sits at the heart of Meli Poppins today.

In 2020, Meli opened a small childminding setting in Southville, Bristol. Built entirely through reputation and word-of-mouth recommendations, the setting quickly grew to its maximum capacity, operating with 12 children and a team of four staff members. During this time, Meli achieved an Ofsted Outstanding grading for her childminding provision, a reflection of her commitment to delivering exceptional care, education and outcomes for children. The success of the setting confirmed what Meli had always believed - that families were looking for something different: a childcare environment that combined exceptional professionalism with the warmth and comfort of a home-from-home experience.

With a vision to create something truly special, Meli spent two years searching for the perfect location to expand her childcare provision. In 2025, that vision became reality when Meli Poppins Childcare opened its doors at David Lloyd Leisure Club in Long Ashton, Bristol.

As a mother of an autistic child, Meli is particularly passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). She understands first-hand the importance of creating environments where every child feels heard, understood, valued and able to thrive. This passion continues to shape the nursery's inclusive approach and commitment to meeting the individual needs of every child.

Meli's goal was never to create just another nursery. Surrounded by larger childcare chains, she wanted to build an independent setting with a unique identity - one that places relationships, professional love and children's wellbeing at the centre of everything it does. Drawing inspiration from Montessori principles, Meli has created a learning environment that promotes independence, confidence, curiosity and child-led learning through play, exploration and real-life experiences.

Today, Meli remains actively involved in every aspect of the nursery. She personally designs the curriculum, oversees the quality of care, supports families, mentors her team and helps shape the experiences children receive each day. Every member of the team undergoes ongoing training and development to meet Meli's Standard - a commitment to delivering exceptional care, meaningful learning opportunities and the highest possible standards for children and families.

For Meli, childcare has never been just a career; it is a lifelong passion. Her mission is simple: to create a magical childhood for every child who walks through the doors of Meli Poppins Childcare, where they feel safe, loved, inspired and excited to learn every single day.
